Neil Sehgal, PhD, MPH

I am a health policy and health services researcher whose work examines how political, institutional, and information environments shape health outcomes, health care delivery, and population health. My research bridges health policy, health services research, and health administration, with particular interests in the political determinants of health, public trust, health equity, and the organization and performance of health systems.

I study how political, institutional, and information environments influence health, health care, and public policy, with the goal of producing evidence that improves health systems and population health. My scholarship has examined topics including COVID-19, Medicaid policy, health care workforce issues, patient safety, and the evaluation of emerging health technologies. I enjoy conducting research that informs policy and organizational decision-making and has practical relevance for health systems and public health.

At the University of Minnesota, I serve as Director of the Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) Programs, and am committed to preparing future leaders through rigorous, evidence-based, and applied graduate education.
