Matthew Anderson, JD
I have executive leadership experience in government and nonprofit organizations, as well as legal experience in litigation and in-house counsel roles. I served as Assistant Commissioner for Health Care & Medicaid Director for the Minnesota Department of Human Services, where I led an administration of approximately 700 employees and more than $8 billion of spending to provide Medicaid and MinnesotaCare coverage for low-income and vulnerable residents. For more than 14 years, I held executive roles at the Minnesota Hospital Association with a focus on providing subject matter expertise and leadership for 142 hospitals and health systems across the state in areas of healthcare policy and reform, strategy, governance and regulatory affairs. I have also engaged in healthcare consulting as the Intellectual Capital Leader and Principal in Mercer's Government Human Services Sector, and through my own freelance consulting. Before transitioning my career to healthcare, I served as an attorney for the Minnesota Attorney General's Office, Hennepin County Attorney's Office and Minnesota State Colleges & Universities.
