Summary

I am a general internist, clinical epidemiologist, and internationally recognized expert in aging with 30 years of experience in the design, conduct, and analysis of several prospective cohort studies and randomized trials sponsored by the NIH in older adults. I am a Professor of Epidemiology & Community Health and Medicine at the University of Minnesota as well as an Affiliate Investigator for the VA Health Services Research Center on Innovation (Center for Care Delivery and Outcomes Research [CCDOR]) at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. I have published over 580 peer-reviewed manuscripts, many focused on identifying risk factors for fractures, falls, disability, and mortality in older adults. I have successfully mentored over 35 trainees and junior investigators and received the Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 2014.
