Summary
My research and teaching activities are focused on bridging the gap between research and public health practice to address health disparities in obesity and other nutrition-related diseases. My current studies do this by 1. Utilizing the school setting to provide basic behavioral treatment and prevention for pediatric obesity; 2. Identifying predictors of obesity intervention response to optimize the tailoring of interventions; 3. Investigating the role of parental influence on pediatric weight-related behaviors (e.g., eating and physical activity); and 4. Addressing the disproportionate challenges to preventing and treating chronic disease experienced by historically marginalized populations.
