Summary
As a cancer epidemiologist, I study cancer prevention and survival of cancer patients, and my research has two closely related foci. The first focus is the role of inflammation and immune response, as measured by circulating and tissue biomarkers, genetic alterations and gut microbiome, in gastrointestinal cancers. My second focus is the role of aspirin and other anti-inflammatory agents in colorectal cancer. Although most of my studies are in gastrointestinal cancers, I am also interested in studying other types of cancer (e.g. prostate, breast) including risk factors for their development and survival.
